    The Cultural Heritage Of Heilongjiang

    __Welcome to Heilongjiang

Heilongjiang is a frontier province with multi-ethnic as well as an immigrant province, in which the Han nationality makes up more than 90% of the whole population. Sparse as the population is, the minority nationalities have a variety of races, mainly including 10 major native minorities, namely Manchu, Hui, Korean, Mongol, Tour, Oroqen, Ewenki, Kirgiz, Roche and Xibe. The vicissitudes of history and folk customs in all these native nationalities are brought about largely by concentrated inhabitation groups. Among these nationalities, Manchu, Mongol, Oroqen, Ewenki and Daur possess rich legacy of myths. The heroic long folk talking and singing music, especially, has long been spread in Roche, Oroqen, and Tour, such as the Yimakan in Roche, Mosukun in Oroqen, and Wuqin in Tour and so on. All this folk speaking and singing music with a touch of epic, is the priceless treasure of Heilongjiang Province. Since modern times,as a multi-national province, Heilongjiang has gradually formed the frontier and ethnic civilized quality with a touch of fusion of Chinese and foreign cultures. The excellent legacy of the Chinese nation and the varied folklores inside Shanhaiguan Pass, brought in by the immigrants after the “origin of Dragon” permitting people moving in since the early Qing Dynasty, have mixed together with native-born culture in Heilongjiang. In early 20s, Heilongjiang, especially Harbin, Heihe and the port of Suifen River developed into the international commercial centre. Meanwhile, many western and eastern countries, Russia, Japan, German, Dutch, and France included, reveal an absolutely different civilized character in varied aspects such as construction, religion, culture, education and sanitation, thus leading to a great impact and communication with the culture in Heilongjiang, which also became an essential culture of Heilongjiang basin.

Heilongjiang possesses a rich resource of intangible cultural heritage, some of which has started out creating in different sorts of literature and art, with a great number of excellent works produced already; others have stepped into the travel industry, with much social and economic benefits brought about, The government of Heilongjiang Province declared the list of the first group of provincial intangible cultural heritage amount to a total number of 57, 9 of which are national immaterial cultural heritage, with the symbol *.
