"Twilight" actor Robert Pattinson defended in an interview his co-star Kristen Stewart's controversial statement, according to news reports Thursday.

Stewart said in an interview with Britain's Elle that she likened her encounters with paparazzi to "being raped", Entertainment Weekly reported. She gave an apology after RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) blasted her comments widely.

Pattingson explained that all associations' criticism came out only after media reports, "None ... came out without being called upon by the media first."

He also critized the irresponible Internet journalists, "There are so many little nerds behind their computers, on their little blogs."
