A Charity Night to Held Raised Money for Quake-hit Yushu at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Suzhou city, Jiangsu Province [Photo: CRIENGLISH.com]

A charity night to aid relief and reconstruction efforts in earthquake-hit Yushu was held on April 23 at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Suzhou city, Jiangsu Province in east China.

Director Huang Jianzhong attended the charity event along with the cast members of his new TV series "The Embroidery from Heaven" ("Tian Tang Xiu"), which features Chinese mainland TV actors Lu Yi and Liu Zi and South Korean TV star Han Ji-Hye. The new TV series is being shot at Crowne Plaza hotel.
 
At the charity night, all guests donated generously for quake-hit Yushu. The charity event raised a total of 205,239 yuan (more than 30,000 U.S. dollars) to help the people of Yushu rebuild their homes.

Besides the donations from celebrities, the hotel employees made their own contributions. The proceeds from an auction were also donated to the people of Yusha.

Damir Raab, Manager of Crowne Plaza hotel, said by hosting the event the hotel hoped to gather more people who were concerned about helping the residents of Yushu get through the disaster.
