銆€銆€China said Thursday that it supports India to take measures to curb greenhouse gas emissions in light of its own situation.
銆€銆€"We understand the current situation in India. China supports India to take adaptation and mitigation measures based on its national conditions and capacity," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang at a regular press conference.
銆€銆€"China is ready to strengthen communication, coordination and cooperation with India on climate change," he said.
銆€銆€India announced Thursday night that the country will significantly slow its carbon dioxide emissions by cutting 20 to 25 percent the ratio of pollution to GDP over the next decade.
銆€銆€"China and India are both developing countries and victims of climate change. The two countries do not have the obligation to binding emission reduction targets on climate change," he said.
銆€銆€Last week, China announced it is going to reduce the intensity of carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP in 2020 by 40 to 45 percent compared with the level of 2005.
