Harbin automotive industry saw an encouraging increase in the first nine months this year, as the added value output in the sector reached 2.55 billion Yuan, nearly 21% increase over the same period of last year.
Automakers in Harbin manufactured nearly 250,000 vehicles in the January to February period, equivalent to the total auto output in 2008.
Harbin Hafei Automobile Company has sped up its development in the light of the preferential automobile industry stimulus packages, with two new Minyi mini-buses coming onto market.
The improved mini-buses have been warmly welcomed by customers. By the end of September, Hafei had manufactured 228,000 automobiles, a 24% increase over last year.
Jointly ventured with US General Motors, China FAW Group Corporation Harbin Light Vehicle Branch also saw rapid development. It has made a historical record in both production and sales increase.
The company has invested 1.2 billion Yuan this year in factory expansion and research and development in order to meet the challenge in the hot auto markets.
