The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) on Thursday rescued 22 Chinese sailors who survived the sinking of a cargo ship, the JCG told the consulate general of China in Fukuoka.
The Chinese cargo ship was enroute from China's Shanghai to Papua New Guinea on Wednesday when it sank some 820 km south of Okinawa. The 22 Chinese sailors escaped the ship in life boats.
