Prof. Chen Qingquan was born in an Indonesian entrepreneur family in 1937. He learned English, German and Japanese in his childhood. In 1953, he came back to his homeland and later graduated from Beijing Mining Institute in 1957, then was recommended for immediate admission to Postgraduate Class of Tsinghua University. Currently he is appointed as lecture professor and dean of Electrical Machinery and Electrical Engineering Department of Hong Kong University as well as director of International Electric Vehicle Research Center. He is also a professor and doctoral supervisor in College of Electrical Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology. At the same time, he is also honorary professor, visiting professor, guest professor of many famous universities in China, America, England, Germany, France and Japan, Dean of International Institute of Higher Learning, Academician of Engineering and Science Institute of Ukraine, Engineering and Science Institute of Hong Kong, Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE), Churchill College of Cambridge. In 1997 he was inducted as an academician of China Engineering Academy. His main inventions include high performance motor, special electric motor, optimization system of electric vehicle, electric drive system of electric vehicle, intelligent testing system, battery intelligent management system, energy intelligent management system, optimization of electric magnetic field analysis, etc. In 1993, he created U2001 advanced electric vehicle which was highly credited as one of the models of current electric vehicles. |
