Over 700 dancers feature in China Square Dance Competition

A total of over 700 participant of 40 teams showed up at the first stop of the ongoing China Square Dance Competition in Jianyang, Sichuan province on Friday.

The competition comprises of optional dance and set dance, with the former competed on Friday.

"Square dance is perfect for dance-lovers or people who simply want to work out whenever and wherever they want," said 60-year-old Cheng Changzhen from Hubei.

Square dance is a kind of popular exercise for the ordinary Chinese, mostly elder females in open-air squares.

This is the third competition of the kind held by the General Administration of Sports of China. It will continue on Saturday morning with teams performing the set dance.
