Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 2.58 percent, closing at 3,170.36. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 3.64 percent higher at 10,267.70. The combined turnover of stocks on the two indices stood at 1,043.98 billion yuan (about 155.37 billion U.S. dollars), surging from 836.29 billion yuan the previous trading day. Most shares gained, with gainers outnumbering losers 1,417 to 23 on the Shanghai bourse, and 2,079 to 37 in Shenzhen. Stocks from the block-chain related sector and domestically-made software industry were the strongest gainers. Both Great Chinasoft Technology Co., Ltd. and Client Service International, Inc. increased by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 7.68 yuan and 41.88 yuan per share, respectively. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.98 percent to close at 1,760.89 points. |
