Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for accelerated efforts to increase city core competitiveness to better serve the country's reform and development, during his two-day inspection in Shanghai, which ended Wednesday.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the need to be confident and determined in continuing the reform and opening-up.
