A 7.0-magnitude earthquake jolted the Ionian Sea at 6:54 a.m. Friday, Beijing Time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at about 37.51 degrees north latitude and 20.51 degrees east longitude. The quake struck at a depth of 20 km, the center said in a statement.
