Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.17 percent, at 2,721.01 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.18 percent lower at 8,046.39 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.57 percent to close at 1,345.95 points.
