The 7th China International Energy Industry Expo concluded Tuesday in the northern Chinese city of Taiyuan, which witnessed a large amount of investment in low-carbon and new energy sectors.

A total of 42 major projects were signed at the expo, with a combined investment volume of 62.5 billion yuan (9.1 billion U.S. dollars), according to its organizers.

Over one-third of the signed projects have an investment of over 1 billion yuan each, and three projects have drawn overseas funds, said Han Chunlin, director of the commerce department of Shanxi Province.

Han said most of the projects are related to advanced equipment manufacturing, new energy vehicles, general aviation, energy conservation and environmental protection, big data, new material, modern medicine, and medical equipment, as well as modern coal chemical industry.

The expo was jointly held by the provincial government of Shanxi, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology. A total of 289 companies and government delegations from 30 countries and regions participated in this year's expo.
