China Southern Power Grid said Sunday that consistent heavy rains in the past few days have disrupted power supply to over 229,600 homes in southern China.

By 5 p.m. Sunday, 63,200 households remained without electricity. Power infrastructure were damaged after torrential rains triggered water clogging and landslides in areas including Zhuhai and Yangjiang, both cities in Guangdong Province.

Electricians are working to repair the damaged facilities but heavy precipitation in the coming three days may pose great challenge, the company said.

Heavy rains and rainstorms are forecasted in Hainan Island, central and southern Guangdong Province and southern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to the National Meteorological Center.

China Southern Power Grid supplies power to Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hainan provinces and Guangxi.
