A gang of three men was busted for allegedly making, trafficking and transporting drugs, said a source of the local public security department in east China's Zhejiang Province Thursday.

Head of the gang, identified by his surname as Ma, was both a drug dealer and user. He caught the attention of local police at the start of the year after an investigation showed he had been dealing drugs from Hubei Province, said Jiangnan subbranch of the public security department with the city of Jinhua.

Police followed all the way up from Zhejiang to Hubei Province and busted Ma's drug gang of three people on July 30, and found more than 100 marijuana plants in their rented apartment in Honghu, Hubei Province. They confessed that they had bought special soil, lights and air conditioners to grow marijuana in the apartment, and then tried to sell it.

The marijuana plants, together with more than five kilograms of marijuana leaves they harvested, were seized by the police.

The suspects were detained pending further investigation and criminal charges.
