A total of 3,173 new companies were incorporated in Macao in the first half of 2018, up by 17.5 percent year-on-year, the special administrative region's statistics service said here on Monday.

Macao's Statistics and Census Service said in its latest report that total value of newly registered capital, however, decreased by 93.9 percent to 456 million patacas (about 57 million U.S. dollars).

The number of companies in dissolution totaled 433 in the same period, and the value of registered capital of companies in dissolution amounted to 167 million patacas (about 21 million dollars).

The report added that the significant drop of newly registered capital is due to the incorporation of a fund company with a large capital in the same period last year.
