Thirty-two people have been punished over a deadly road collapse that killed 11 in south China's Guangdong Province on Feb. 7, the provincial work safety administration said Monday. The collapse happened at a subway construction site in Foshan, killing 11 and injuring another eight. One person is still missing. Direct economic losses amounted to over 53.2 million yuan (7.9 million U.S. dollars). The investigation blamed high-risk construction and delayed evacuation for the casualties. Of the 32 punished for the incident, two have been placed in police custody and the rest were given disciplinary sanctions within their departments. |
