A joint survey was launched Saturday to raise awareness of infant allergies in China, as World Allergy Day falls Sunday.

The two-month survey will be conducted on the child healthcare information app and consulting platform, ivybaby, and is expected to cover 50,000 parents.

The results will be released in September and are expected to enhance awareness and knowledge of infant allergy prevention, according to Yang Yantao, head of medical strategy and operation with Nestle (China), which supports the research.

A previous survey showed that about 40.9 percent of China's infants less than one year old have suffered from allergies.

Allergies are one of the major illnesses troubling children under 18 and it is important to take prevention measures during infancy, according to Xu Tao, an official with the National Center for Women and Children's Health.
