Hong Kong stocks closed down 525.14 points, or 1.82 percent, to 28,356.26 points on Wednesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 28,342.82 and 28,988.83. Turnover totaled 121.30 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 15.45 billion U.S. dollars).
