Police in east China's Fujian Province have arrested eight people, including five from Taiwan, allegedly involved in drug trafficking. Over 340 kg of ketamine and some 2 tonnes of raw materials for drug production were seized, border police of the province said in a statement on Monday, ahead of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Border police in Zhangzhou City received tipoffs in September last year about a fishing vessel planning to transport drugs to Taiwan. The gang, led by a Taiwanese man nicknamed "Afu", was then discovered. Five members, including Afu, were caught in February, which led to a raid of their drug production base in the mountains of Yongan City. Three more suspects were arrested at the plant, which was disguised as a poultry farm. Tuesday marks International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. |
