The average earnings (excluding bonuses) for full-time hotel employees in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) rose by 2.3 percent to 17,200 patacas (2,139.38 U.S. dollars) in September, the SAR's statistics department said in a survey released on Wednesday. Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) said that at the end of the third quarter of 2017, hotels had 54,524 full-time employees, down slightly by 0.1 percent year-on-year. Restaurants had 25,870 full-time employees, up by 2.7 percent year-on-year, with the average earnings falling by 0.3 percent to 9,280 patacas. Manufacturing had 9,863 full-time employees, a decrease of 0.6 percent year-on-year, with the average earnings in September up by 4.5 percent to 10,730 patacas. Electricity, gas and water supply had 1,118 full-time employees, up by 1.5 percent from a year earlier, with the average earnings up by 13.2 percent to 34,240 patacas. Child-care and elderly care had 1,409 and 752 full-time employees respectively, up by 11.3 percent and 11.6 percent year-on-year. The average earnings in September increased by 5.5 percent and 1.7 percent respectively to 14,680 patacas and 14,080 patacas. |
