A company in Zhejiang Province was ordered to pay Alibaba 202,000 yuan (30,469 U.S. dollars) for faking trade volumes and ratings on the e-commerce giant's online retail platforms.

Hangzhou West Lake District People's Court said Thursday that the website Shatui, under the defendant Hangzhou Jianshi Technology Company, has been engaged in the fraudulent practices from September 2014 to March 2016 upon requests by online sellers.

Investigations showed that the website gained 360,000 yuan from the illegal practices.

Alibaba's online shopping platform Taobao and Tmall jointly filed a lawsuit against the company at the end of last year, asking for 2.16 million yuan in compensation.

According to the court verdict, Shatui's practices damaged consumers' interests and disturbed the e-commerce platforms' business order, constituting unfair competition. It required Jianshi to compensate Alibaba 202,000 yuan.
