A house collapsed Wednesday in south China amid continuous torrential rain, killing three and wounding four others, local government reported. The house in suburban Wuzhou City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region caved in at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, trapping a family of seven -- two grandparents and five children. All were pulled from the rubble, but three died of severe wounds. Among the four hospitalized, one remains in critical condition. Heavy rain pounded south China this week, affecting several provinces and regions. In the metropolis of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, rain inundated 20 houses and brought down a tree, blocking traffic. A total of 119 people in low-lying areas have been relocated, the local government said. The Guangdong weather forecast bureau said the rain will ease on Thursday. |
