Ten people have been killed and another eight are severely injured following a traffic accident in east China on Monday afternoon, local police said.

The accident happened at around 5:25 p.m. on a national highway in Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, when a truck collided with a bus. A total of 30 people sustained minor injuries.

A driver has been detained, and an investigation into the case is under way.
