    A Chinese doctor has become an online celebrity after saving a patient during a flight bound for Australia.

    A passenger, reportedly from Southeast Asia, suffered a severe head wound after bumping her head on a flight from Guangzhou to Perth, Australia, on January 29.

    53 year old Doctor Li Shucheng rushed to help after hearing an announcement asking for medical professionals on board to assist with the injured passenger.

    "The situation was terrible, the patient had a head wound of about 5 centimeters, she was bleeding heavily, and she had lost from 100cc to 200cc of blood," Li said.

    While bandaging the wound and carrying out a series of checks, Li also confirmed to the captain the patient was not in a life-threatening condition. The plane was already in the air over the Pacific Ocean and the captain needed to decide whether or not to make an emergency landing.

    The captain finally decided against an unscheduled touch down in Jakarta, Indonesia.Li is a doctor in the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Department of Foshan Hospital of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), with 30 years of experience. He was flying to Australia for a holiday.

    Li said he heard from the flight crew that the injured passenger was from Southeast Asia, and aged 40, according to a press release from Foshan Hospital of TCM.

    The whole rescue was recorded by another passenger and posted on the WeChat social media platform moments after the plane landed in Perth, received hundreds of likes.

    Apart from his excellent medical skills, the doctor was also praised for his English skills.

    While bandaging the wound for the woman, she suddenly woke up, and ripped the bandages away shouting that bandages were "not pretty".Li replied in fluent English that life was the most important, and bandages would not affect her appearance, and then bandaged the wound for her again.
