Agence France Presse published a story in late January that a survey of 12 types of Pampers diapers sold in France showed that most of them contained dioxin, which may be harmful to a baby's hormonal system. The South Korean government announced last week that it would also investigate the safety of Pampers diapers sold in the country. The brand's China Department claimed later that the products sold in China were produced domestically or imported from Japan. All the materials used in the product meet Chinese standards. Products suspected of containing toxic substances haven't been sold in China. The diaper scandal won't impact on Pampers' market in China, said Tao Wensheng, a partner of Alliance PKU Management Consultants Ltd., adding that Pampers is still a popular brand among top level diaper options in China. |
