The books depict an idealized version of childhood in 1950s France. The China Children's Press & Publication Group, the classics' publisher, has recently promoted this series to young readers through several notable authors of children's literature. Mei Zihan is one of them."I think the stories on Le petit Nicolas are all real. The descriptions about Little Nicholas' behavior and activities could nearly be found in all other children. I admire the author, for he could discover the personality traits in children which others fail to notice."The French classics was created by René Goscinny and illustrated by Jean-Jacques Sempé and it was first published in 1959. |
