[Photo: Blue Sky Rescue] The Chinese embassy in Myanmar said on Monday that China didn't turn away Myanmar residents trying to cross the border into China to escape fighting. This comes in response to Myanmar media reports saying China rejected about 4,000 Myanmar residents to escape the latest conflict between Myanmar government forces and an armed ethnic group Kachin Independence Army (KIA). A spokesperson from the Chinese embassy said that local authorities in Myanmar have enforced resettlement and management work for the Myanmar residents to escape fighting, and the Chinese side didn't refuse any Myanmar resident entering China to escape the conflict. The spokesperson stressed that out of humanitarian considerations, China has always provided assistance, including food and medicine, to the Myanmar residents during this period of fighting. |
