A large Japanese hotel chain providing books that deny the Nanjing Massacre in China as well as forced prostitution in China and on the Korean Peninsula by the Japanese military during World War II has met strong protests from netizens in China.

Over the weekend, a video posted by a Weibo user showed a book in a hotel room of the large hotel chain Always Pleasant Amenity (APA) that denies crimes committed in Japan's invasions to Korea and China.

The account is said to belong to two New York University students: American Kat and Chinese Sid.

In the video, Kat also bought one of the books at the reception of an APA hotel.

The video has been forwarded from the "KatAndSid" Weibo account for more than 600,000 times and nearly 30,000 comments have been received so far.

The book - Theoretical Modern History II - The Real History of Japan, written by CEO of the APA Group under the pen name Seiji Fuji, was put in all the APA hotel rooms and was available for purchase at the reception desk, according to the two students. The book is written in both English and Japanese.

"But China has toned down its claims that 300,000 people were slaughtered at Nanking [Nanjing] and that the Senkaku Islands are Chinese territory, perhaps because it becomes increasingly clear that these are falsehoods the more these issues are discussed," according to the book showed in the video.

The sentence, "So that sufficient responses can also be made to China and South Korea, I will provide support to the maximum degree so the Abe administration becomes a long-tern government, " was written on page 25 according to the video.

The writer of the book, Toshio Motoya, is CEO of the APA Group and deputy director of a support group for Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and the "right wing" background of the hotel has been exposed on Japanese social media before, Global Times reported.

More than 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers were killed by Japanese soldiers within a few weeks after Nanjing was captured by the Japanese troops on December 13, 1937.

The APA hotel chain has 413 hotels or resorts and nearly 70,000 hotel rooms, as of September 2016, according to the Global Times.

The APA hotels have attracted a lot of Chinese and South Korean tourists because of their convenient locations and reasonable prices, guancha.cn reported.About 40 percent of Japan's foreign tourists (half were from China and South Korea) would choose to live in APA hotels during the peak tourist season, reported guancha.cn quoting the Japanese media.
