    Europe faced three attacks in a single day on Monday, with Christmas a mere 6 days away.

    As European countries are always hot destinations for Chinese travelers during the New Year holiday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and some Chinese embassies in Europe are urging Chinese tourists to be safe.

    On Monday, Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was assassinated by an off-duty Turkish police officer at the opening of a photo exhibition in Ankara.

    On the same day, a truck driver in Berlin, Germany deliberately ploughed into a busy Christmas market killing at least 12 people and injuring about 50.In Zurich? Switzerland, a gunman burst into a prayer hall at a mosque and shot three worshippers before fleeing.

    No Chinese nationals were killed or injured, according to media reports.

    On August 12 this year, a travel warning was issued by the Foreign Ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Turkey asking people to avoid travel to southeastern Turkey and border areas between Syria and Turkey before November 16, 2016.

    Recently, the expiry date of the warning was extend to February 14, 2017, according to media reports.A number of leading Chinese travel agents also responded to the situation.

    Chinese online leisure travel company Tuniu said it would cancel reservations for people who have booked hotel rooms in Berlin within one week from December 19 and would not charge any extra fees.

    Ctrip, a leading provider of travel services, said any customer who has reserved a vehicle from December 20 to 26 is allowed to change the date or cancel their booking, with no extra charge.These travel agents say the incidents might have some psychological impact on Chinese tourists, but in general, likely will not have a big impact on their travel decisions to Europe.
