One of the UK's most popular nightclub publications, DJ Mag, has made a deal that will see it available for purchase in China.

The ?1 million, five year deal was made with East 21, a Chinese entertainment firm.

The rights to sell DJ Mag are valuable, as the publication is responsible for widely-respected rankings of international DJs and nightclubs.

Recently, British nightclubs have been in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

One of the most iconic venues in the United Kingdom, Fabric, closed earlier in the year following the drug-related deaths of two young people at the premises. It has now been successful in securing permission to re-open, with tighter security and drug controls.

Chinese interest in British nightclubs will certainly be welcomed by industry insiders. As more and more people in the United Kingdom turn to alternative forms of nighttime entertainment, an astonishing half of all British nightclubs have closed in the last decade.

Apparently, the ban on smoking in indoor public places in England in 2007 hit the industry particularly hardly, alongside the rising cost of festival and live concert tickets, which has resulted in music fans having less money to spend at clubs.
