[Photo: Xinhua] Suspects responsible for a deadly coal mine explosion in north China's Inner Mongolia have been taken into custody. 32 people were confirmed dead in the gas explosion that happened around midday on Saturday at a site run by Baoma Mining Co. Ltd. in the city of Chifeng. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The company is 45 kilometers from the city center. It produces 450,000 tons of coal every year, to provide power and heat supply for local residents. This is the second serious coal mine blast to take place in the country in recent days. On Tuesday, another coal mine explosion killed at least 22 people in northeastern Heilongjiang province. |
