The report also said the majority of his trademarks in China are based on his surname, Trump, or transliterations of his name in Chinese such as Tangnade?Chuanpu, Chuanpu, Telangpu, Trump International Golf Club, Trump plaza and so on. The trademarks he applied for cover a multiple of industries including insurance, finance, and education, and most of the trademarks have been registered for some time. Only a small number of them have been applied for in recent years. The public records also show that Trump filed two registrations for trademarks on April 15, 2016, when the U.S. Presidential campaign was ongoing across the Pacific. ![]() One of the trademarks that Trump owned in China. In 2006, Trump attempted to apply for the trademark "TRUMP" in China, however, three years later, China's trademark authorities rejected his application as a Chinese business man surnamed Dong had already registered something similar. Trump was apparently unwilling to give up, and filed a petition for the review of his application. In 2014, the authorities suggested that the trademark applied for by Trump was too similar to the one already registered, and that the services designated by Trump's trademark were also too similar to the one already registered. The authorities rejected his petition once again. Trump went on to sue the trademark authorities twice in order to revoke its decision, but both attempts failed.
