Typhoon Haima is approaching south China and is expected to land in south China's Guangdong province on Friday.

From October 21 to 23, heavy rainstorms will sweep south China and the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Guangdong province, in particular, will be hit with torrential rainfall.

All trains running between Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong will be halted on Friday, according to the Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corporation.

In the meantime, a total of 85 trains, mainly traveling between Jiangxi and Fujian, have been ordered to stop services between Thursday and Saturday, the Nanchang Railway Bureau said Thursday.

Railway authorities in Guangxi also canceled 20 trains linking with major cities in Guangdong, on Thursday and Friday.

Another 28 trains will be suspended in Shanghai as well.
