![]() File photo of Australia-based Crown Resorts [Photo: guancha.cn] Chinese authorities have confirmed a senior executive of Australia's largest casino operator and two other Australians have been detained in an investigation of suspected gambling crimes. The Australia-based Crown Resorts Ltd says the head of its VIP International team, Jason O'Connor, is among 18 of its employees being questioned by Chinese authorities. The Chinese foreign ministry said the Australians have been detained in Shanghai for suspected involvement in gambling crimes, but did not provide further details. The ministry said the Australians were being given access to Consular staff and services. Gambling is illegal in the Chinese mainland.
