Seventeen fatalities had been confirmed by Friday, nine days after a landslide in a village in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, local authorities said.

Ten people remain missing, according to the rescue headquarters.

Rain brought by Typhoon Megi caused about 400,000 cubic meters of debris to slide down mountains in Sucun Village, Suichang County, last Wednesday, burying 20 houses.

Twenty-seven people were reported missing after the accident. The 17 found by rescuers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Rescuers are also closely monitoring the barrier lake. By Thursday afternoon, the water level had dropped by 10 meters from its highest point.
