Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has arrived in Havana for an official visit to Cuba, following a brief visit to Canada and the annual UN General Assembly in New York. Li Keqiang's trip to Havana is the first official visit to the Caribbean country by a Chinese premier since the two countries established diplomatic ties 56 years ago. Li has said that China is looking forward to deepening the two countries' traditional friendship, enhancing cooperation, and increasing people-to-people exchanges. During the visit, he will meet with President Raul Castro. The Premier is also scheduled to visit Cuba's revolutionary leader and former President Fidel Castro. China is Cuba's second largest trade partner. The two countries are set to sign multiple agreements on economy, technology, finance, and industrial capacity cooperation. Cuba was the first country in Latin America to establish diplomatic ties with China. |
