The son of a billionaire posted photos on his Sina Weibo social media account saying that he bought eight iPhone 7s for his dog.

Wang Sicong, son of Wang Jianlin, China's richest businessman, bought his Alaskan malamute eight of Apple's latest handsets on the day of their release.

He wrote in his Weibo "I don't understand all the show-off posts on social media. What's the point? Don't make me do it?"

For other Chinese shoppers who want a new iPhone, they have to either queue for hours outside an Apple store, or buy smuggled ones at a higher price.

An iPhone 7 sells for nearly 7000 yuan ($1,047) in China, while the larger iPhone 7 Plus goes for almost 8000 yuan ($1,197), higher than many white collar monthly salaries in China.

Wang's showing-off received lots of dislikes from netizens.

It is not Wang's first time to flaunt his, or his father's, wealth.

One year ago, Wang outraged many people after buying his dog Coco two luxury Apple Watches, with each believed to have cost over a hundred thousand yuan.

Wang's behavior triggered disgust from regular people. In 2015, China's official news agency Xinhua published an article to criticize Wang Sicong.

The editorial warned the public not to praise or copy the "arrogant and coarse celebrity."
