The Provincial People's Congress in Northeast China's Liaoning has confirmed that a total of 452 provincial lawmakers have resigned in lieu of accusations of involvement in electoral fraud. Li Feng, former Deputy Director of the Provincial Standing Committee, was deposed from office. Wu Yesong, former Secretary of Tieling City's Municipal Committee of the CPC, who was previously under investigation on suspicion of serious disciplinary violations, also resigned. All of the above lawmakers have been disqualified from holding office in the future, as prescribed by China's election laws. A National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee session earlier on Tuesday voted to unseat 45 NPC deputies elected from the Liaoning Provincial Congress, for buying votes and bribery schemes during the 2013 election. A total of 523 deputies were implicated in the election fraud and have now either resigned or had their terms as deputies terminated.
