China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying has hailed incoming Philippines foreign minister Perfecto Yasay's open attitude towards bilateral talks regarding the South China Sea.

Hua Chunying said at a news conference that China welcomed Yasay's positive comments and hoped the new Philippine government will respect the agreements and hold bilateral talks with China.

She also said China hopes the Philippines will make efforts to boost relations between the two countries.
