As part of the lead-up to this year's G20 leaders summit in Hangzhou, a "Women-20" meeting has kicked off in the city of Xi'an.

Around 180 women from G20 countries, including ministers, business leaders and members of other influential groups are taking part in the sessions.

The mandate of the meetings is to explore strategies to advance women's roles in economic development, entrepreneurship and innovation.

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao has delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, emphasizing the importance of women's role in social development.
