[Photo: scio.gov.cn] China's Ministry of Science and technology says the country has defined nine technology development areas it will focus to promote innovation-driven growth model. Wan gang, Chinese Science and Technology Minister made such remarks on Monday, when explaining a newly released guideline on the country's development strategy. "The document puts forward missions for developing technology in information networks, modern agriculture, energy, environmental protection, oceanic and space industries, and health and service industries. It points out the need of developing disruptive technologies, to generate new industries and create more jobs." The document maps out three major steps to promote the country's innovation-driven development, pledging to build China into an innovative nation by 2020, an international leader in innovation by 2030, and a world powerhouse of scientific and technological innovation by 2050. The minister says that more than eight thousand experts from home and abroad spent two years on the guideline.
