[Photo: Chinanews.com] The authorities in Beijng's Xicheng District on Thursday forced uaqualified restaurants offering delivery services on the food ordering app "Baidu Waimai" to shut down and be removed from the platform, and say strict measures would be taken to punish the owners. A recent report by a Legal Newspaper revealed that some restaurants listed on the popular online food ordering platform do not have business licenses or fail to meet the sanitation standard. Some restaurants could not be traced at the registered addresses shown on the app, or their registered addresses were not consistent with those stated. China's "3.15" investigative special has in the past targeted the practice of creating fake online sales to improve a vendor's standing in the Taobao online marketplace. Up to date, 27,000 restaurants have been removed from online food ordering platforms nationwide, ten percent of them are based in Beijng.
