Eleven miners were missing in a coal mine flooding accident Monday in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, authorities said.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. at Zhaojin Coal Mine in Yaozhou District in the city of Tongchuan, when 67 workers were in the shaft, said a spokesman with the Tongchuan city government.

Fifty-six of them managed to escape and rescuers were rushing to find the missing.
