[Photo: 163.com] The ongoing Beijing International Film Festival could see a record-high number of contracts signed, involving over 16 billion yuan, or some 6.5 billion US dollars' worth of deals. Some 60 companies within the industry have been taking part in the event, with agreements reached on a large batch of projects, ranging from film production, to technical services and infrastructure construction. Han Yu from the festival's organizing committee said this year's event has seen the greatest level of investment yet. "Forty-nine projects were signed with the total amount topping 16.3 billion yuan, a 17.96 percent increase compared with last year." During the event, Chinese director and screenwriter Xu Haofeng secured a deal to produce his new film 'Hiding Behind the Blade', which is based on his novella of the same name. "The film will be shot about something real in history when Chinese martial arts returned to the battle fields during the war against Japanese aggression along the Great Wall in 1933." The signing ceremony was one of 26 events hosted at this year's Beijing International Film Festival. Over 200 film-related companies and institutions are displaying their products and technologies, attracting huge interest from film enthusiasts. The festival, in its sixth edition, will end on Saturday April 23rd. |
