This time, the Chinese e-commerce giant has purchased a controlling stake in fellow e-commerce firm Lazada for an estimated 1 billion US dollars. Lazada is based out of Singapore. It's one of the largest e-commerce sites in Southeast Asia. Alibaba's purchase of the firm is part of the company's broader goals to expand its international foot-print. As of the end of last year, only around 6-percent of Alibaba's total revenues came from the international market.
