Chinese authorities are calling out Japan for affecting regional peace and stability.
The suggestion comes after Japanese authorities switched on a radar station around 150 kilometers from the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea.
Chinese authorities suggest the radar station gives Japan a permanent intelligence gathering post in the area.
A statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry says the Chinese side hopes Japan will do much more to benefit regional peace and stability.
At the same time, China's defense ministry has issued its own statement, saying the international community needs to be on high alert about Japan's military expansion.
