Chinese auto maker Geely is teaming up with a producers of batteries in Hunan to try to create a new platform for energy vehicle producers to tap into. Geely and Hunan Corun New Energy say the new platform is set to open to all Chinese car producers with independent brands. So far 9 different companies have signed on. The move is part of a broad-based push to get more electric vehicles on the road in China. the Chinese government has been engaged in a major electric-vehicle subsidy program since 2014. This past month authorities also announced plans for the construction of more battery charging facilities and increasing the share of new-energy vehicles in the public transportation system. |
