Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has taken part in a session among lawmakers attending this year's National People's Congress. Meeting with a group from the province of Shandong, Li Keqiang says the "new normal" is going to work, saying he remains confident about China's economic outlook. "In this transitional period, there is still a lot of demands in China. Supply-side reforms are going to create their own momentum through innovation. On a smaller scale, industries which cater to household needs, as well as pension services, are going to see significant benefits. Our economic strategy is not only going to increase employment in these areas, but also benefit society. It’s these types of areas that are going to help us break the mold of heavy-industry growth." The Premier also says steps are being taken to try to link companies, universities and scientific research institutes together to help bolster growth. |
