[Photo: sohu.com] "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has topped the feature competition of the 14th annual Visual Effects Society Awards, winning four trophies, including the top category of outstanding Visual FX in a photoreal feature. It beat fellow VFX Oscar nominees Mad Max: Fury Road and The Martian as well as Furious 7 and San Andreas. This increases its chance of getting an Oscar as in nine of the 13 previous years, the winners of VES' top film award have gone on to clinch the Visual Effects Oscar. Meanwhile, "The Revenant" took home three statuettes. "The Good Dinosaur" won the most awards in the animated feature competition, with three awards including outstanding VFX. In the television competition, "Game of Thrones" won four awards. Ridley Scott, the director behind such films as Blade Runner, Alien, and The Martian, received the VES Lifetime Achievement Award. VES presented awards in 23 categories, including features, television, animation, video games and other forms of content. The trophies were handed out at the Beverly Hilton, in Beverly Hills.
